ST. PATRICK’S DAY 2021

With our 70th Andover reunion looming in June, and the Fall Cape Cod reunion of my Destroyer, the USS Abbot (DD-629), there’s lots to look forward to. The joy of such occasions is tempered as each March my mind turns to the tragedy that I have posted several times on my BLOG. Also in my thoughts and prayers are three Andover Classmates who perished in aircraft shortly after college graduation in 1955. Ted Crowther died in a training flight in North Carolina, Fred Weicker died during flight operations off the Carrier USS Franklin D Roosevelt (CV-42), and Fighter Pilot Smitty Davis died in combat over Korea. Raise a glass to our Service Men and Women as we celebrate St. Patrick’s Day! Read about the St. Patrick’s Day tragedy and heroes below.
